Fashion & Style: What inspired you to become an actress?
Leslie-Anne Huff: "I can't remember a time when I was not acting or performing! In fact, some of my earliest memories include the shows that I put on in my parent's living room. As a child, I was also inspired to become an actress thanks to classic Disney films such as 'The Little Mermaid' and 'Aladdin.' Now that I am an adult, people inspire me because everyone has a story."
What drew you to the role of Rayna Cruz on "The Vampire Diaries"?
"It is such a treat to play a bad***, especially as a female.
'The Vampire Diaries' writers really handed me a gift with Rayna because she's tough. Thanks to her backstory being revealed in flashbacks, we also understand why she's so tough. Rayna has a purpose and a mission to carry on her father's legacy. I can understand that because even though my own father is not a vampire hunter, family is also very important to me."

What was the most difficult aspect of portraying Rayna?
"For me, the most challenging part was the physicality. I consider myself to be in pretty good shape, but the stunt training I went through was very extensive.
For example, my right arm became very sore because working with a heavy sword for hours at a time is surprisingly exhausting, but once I got the hang of it, I discovered that I loved performing the stunts and feeling stronger."
If you were not playing Rayna, which character would you like to play on "The Vampire Diaries" and why?
"This might be an unorthodox answer, but I would say Damon Salvatore, because he is always making a sarcastic comment or a funny quip. Plus, the character of Damon is flawed in so many interesting ways.
Even though no one can play Damon like Ian, I think it would be fun to try."

What tips would you give to those who are looking to break into show business?
"My advice is to work hard and enjoy doing it, but make sure that you listen to your instincts. It is also wise to create short films or videos for yourself too.
Above all else, always be open to learning new things. I had the honor of working with an experienced actor who told me to just focus on the craft because the rest will fall into place."
