Theo James' girlfriend Ruth Kearney stars in the new Netflix series "Flaked" as a mysterious waitress named London, who catches the fancy of everyone she meets in Venice Beach, including Will Arnett's recovering alcoholic named Chip and his best friend Dennis (David Sullivan).
Kearney admitted to Fox News Magazine that London is so beguiling that she was actually intimidated to play her at first.
"The guys talk about her, they have a little fight about who's gonna ask her out," Kearney said. "You think, 'Oh, she's just the love interest.' But actually, she has a big part to play in Chip's - the main character's - unraveling."
"Before you even meet her, the [other characters] are describing her like, 'Oh my God, she's got a sick body,' or 'She's like, this insane hot girl!'" she laughingly added. "It was just funny to read that, and [I'm] like, 'Oh, can I play that?'"
But after taking on the role, Kearney realized that London's appeal is not based solely on her physical attributes. "I think the point is, what makes her attractive to these guys is that she has this mysterious quality," she reflected.
So far, the reviews for "Flaked" have been very positive. As happy as Kearney is about the news, the actress told The Irish Mirror that what draws her to a certain role is not how popular she will become because of it, but because of the creative challenges it will provide her.
"I'm not in this industry to become famous, I don't go for jobs because they will make me well known, it's so hopefully they will lead me on to more interesting roles," she said.
"I'm not interested in reading reviews, I'm more interested in normal people watching it and their reaction," Kearney continued. "The response so far has been really good. It's a quirky show and I don't think there's much like it out there."
"Flaked" started airing on Netflix on March 11.
