There once was a time when all we could do was write "LOL" or "ROFL" to convey our enthusiasm in a text or IM. Then came the πand the world as we knew it forever changed. These little icons have become such an integral part of how we type, text, and Tweet, that sometimes an emoji is the only way to accurately represent how we're feeling. Pretty much everyone has a go-to (Mine is this guy: π. Isn't he perfect?), and we're able to get our point across about how much something sucks using only a picture of Kim Kardashian ugly crying. Of course, we don't really have to tell you that considering 92 percent of people online use emojis. But nonetheless, we're just happy π and thankful π to have these little rays of sunshine ☀️ in our lives.
So today, on World Emoji Day, we thought it was most appropriate to celebrate π by revealing a few little known facts about the most important smileys, hearts, foods, and sassy ladies in your life. π(No, we refuse to call her Information Desk Attendant, OK!?)

Fascinating, right? We're especially intrigued by the fact that South America loves the music note emoji, while the U.S. πΊπΈ, Canada, and the U.K. are apparently really into that distressed-looking face. And the most heart happy places? That would be France, Italy, Japan, and Saudi Arabia. Huh.
2. Emoji are feminist, too! π
ICYMI, Google recently announced that they'll be creating a new set of emoji—this time with a much wider range of professions for both women and men, and existing emoji will be getting their female or male counterparts. Gone are the days of being limited to only male police officers or females doing a sassy hair flip—hair flips and a variety of careers for all! Now that's equality. π
3. And the most used emoji face on Twitter is...

Where there's chatting, there's emoji—even on Tinder, the world's most notorious dating app. So how are we expressing ourselves to our matches? The top emoji on Tinder is the blushing face π. Aw! The other top Tinder emoji include π, π», and π. Sounds like the makings of a great date, no?
5. A TON of beauty emoji now exist!
We're all about π and π, but for our less traditional beauty ventures, let's just say there's not much to work with—until now! L'OrΓ©al USA recently launched "Beaumoji," and they're everything. More nail colors, lip colors, hair colors, plus perfumes, face masks, and a few iconic products have us in beauty heaven. π
6. Heart emoji for all!
And in the most hopeful news of the day, more full heart emojis π are tweeted than broken hearts π, according to Twitter. Nice to know that so many people are spreading the love out there.
