'X' Marks the Spot
A personalized map from Natty Michelle Paperie of Kathryn and Kevin's love story—from where they met to their wedding day venues—was included in out-of-town guests' welcome bags.
With This Ring
A sweet post-marriage admission from the groom? That he secretly found Kathryn's wedding-themed Pinterest board and took notes of the rings she had pinned in preparation for picking out her engagement ring. "I didn’t even know he knew what Pinterest was!" she told us. "When he told me that story, I laughed and thought it was very cute and clever." We do too!
With This Ring
Kathryn's wedding band actually has more sentimental value to it, though: Kevin used diamonds his grandmother had given him before passing away in creating his bride's ring.
Local Flavor
The bride and groom wed in Kathryn's hometown of Augusta, Georgia, home to the prestigious Masters Golf Tournament. The couple stocked the out-of-town guests' welcome bags with local goodies to give folks from all over the country a sweet dose of Southern hospitality.

The Bouquet
Kathryn had her hand in most of details of her wedding day, but the exact flowers in her bouquet was not one of them. She entrusted her florist from Cote Designs with the decision after sharing her taste and vision. "She does a great job of using in-season, understated, local-to-the-area flowers, and I trusted her implicitly," Kathryn says. "The flowers and bouquets turned out more beautiful than I could have pictured and planned!"
Bridal Prep
Kathryn and her bridesmaids got ready at her childhood home, which ended up being one of her favorite things about her big day. "It was so relaxing and comfortable being at home and being able to sit and talk and laugh with my best friends and family," she says.

The Groom
While the ladies got glam at Kathryn's parents' house, Kevin and his groomsmen spent the day at the historic Partridge Inn in Augusta, hanging out and getting ready before the ceremony.
Cheers, Y'all!
Finishing Touches
Kathryn's mom and sister help button and zip her into her stunning A-line Anne Barge gown, which has a bateau neckline.

The First Reveal
With a color scheme otherwise consisting of mostly white and green, Kathryn's bridesmaids popped in their pale periwinkle-hued dresses from Watters, and donned simple pearl necklaces.

A Portrait of Bridal Beauty
The next several photos are a brief break from the wedding day, but we agreed with Kathryn's photographer that her stunning bridal portraits were worth including. These photos were taken earlier in the week at the historic home of family friends. The hand-painted wallpaper made for a breathtaking backdrop for Kathryn's portraits.

Finding the One
Planning a wedding from afar (Kathryn lives in Washington D.C., and the wedding was in Georgia) can be difficult, but the one decision that the bride definitely needs to be in person for is choosing her wedding dress. Kathryn was shopping for a dress in Atlanta so that she could look with her mom and sister, and had planned one weekend to find the one, which ended up being a bit of a stressful deadline. But three boutiques in, Kathryn tried on this Anne Barge gown and knew it was the one. "I had a vague idea of what I wanted going into the dress-shopping process, but I would not say I had an exact style in mind," she says. "I wanted something comfortable, classy, and elegant—as my mom would say, 'She's my Grace Kelly daughter!' My favorite part was the open and low back, which I knew I wanted from the start."
Something Old...
Kathryn's wedding veil is a true family heirloom: It has been worn by the women on her mother's side of the family for three generations before her. "It was so special and sentimental to be able to wear it again, and I hope if I have a daughter, she can wear it one day too," Kathryn told us.
The First Look
OK, back to the wedding day. Kathryn admits that the traditionalist in her didn't want to do a first look. "I had this vision of seeing Kevin for the first time right when they opened the church doors and I started walking down the aisle!" Her photographer was actually the one who changed her mind. "And it was one of the best decisions we made during wedding planning," she told us.
Just the Two of Us
The wedding took place during August, which, in Georgia, meant that the couple wanted to take their photos inside when possible. A small chapel in the church where the ceremony took place was the perfect intimate setting for Kathryn and Kevin's first look. "The day was going by so quickly, and I am so thankful Kevin and I just had a few minutes to take a deep breath, pray together, and just take in the moment, just the two of us," Kathryn says. "It truly was one of my favorite memories of the day, and I have now changed my ways and recommend doing a first look to all brides, believe it or not!"

Something Blue
Sprigs of tweedia accented the otherwise white and green bouquets and flower arrangements used for the bridal party, ceremony, and reception. The bouquets also included white garden roses, mint, and cotton blossoms.
A Dapper "I Do"
The groomsmen all wore classic black tuxedos, from the local Boardroom Clothing Company, keeping with the traditional, elegant feel of the wedding.

Some Place Familiar
There's something to be said about sticking with what you know. Kathryn and Kevin's ceremony took place at Trinity on the Hill, Kathryn's childhood church. Along with the reception, which was held at the Augusta Country Club, Kathryn chose familiar venues that meant something to her. "I wouldn't be who I am today without the people and experiences I've had at Trinity on the Hill, and I have so many fun childhood memories of going up to the pool in the summer with friends and playing so much tennis with my dad at Augusta Country Club," she told us. "Other venues weren’t even an option for me—I knew exactly what I wanted!"

The Party Awaits
Kathryn and Kevin took a few more photos after the ceremony on the golf course outside the country club while guests started filing in at the reception—and taking a peek at the newlyweds from the porch.
Reception Decor
The decor and flowers at the reception remained simple and in the same color palette as the ceremony.
Reception Decor
An Open Table
Kathryn's one regret (if you can even call it that, she says) from her wedding is not going to the reception venue during the day to see the space fully decorated and without guests in it. "By the time I got to the reception, people were already there, and I feel as though I didn’t get to fully take in all of the flowers or decor or set up," she says. "So that would be my one piece of advice for brides: Go see your reception venue decorated before the ceremony and the guests arrive!"
"I Have Found the One..."
This personalized handwritten sign, which sat outside the doors leading into the reception, was a surprise gift from Kathryn's wedding-day coordinator. Kathryn and Kevin were so surprised and excited about the sweet gift—the couple now has it hanging in their apartment, a great token to remember their special day by.
Lush Blooms
The white and green color scheme of the flowers at the ceremony remained consistent with the rest of the day, but some variety in the blooms—hydrangeas, classic roses, and more greenery—was also included.
The Cherry Blossom
Kathryn and Kevin put a fun personal spin on a local favorite for their signature cocktail. The drink was an ode to the Azalea, a classic drink served at the Masters golf tournament, but they called it the Cherry Blossom since the couple met and live in Washington D.C.
The Cake
Kathryn shares some sage advice for couples planning their own wedding: "In times of tension or high-stress—because there will be those moments—take a deep breath, take a step back, and remember why you’re planning a wedding in the first place. It’s easier said now, and hindsight is 20/20, but as long as you and your fiancé are married at the end of the day, that’s all that matters. "And also, try to slow down and stay calm and comfortable on your actual wedding day. People will tell you it goes by SO fast, and it surely does, so try to take in everything. I would even recommend writing what you remember down on your honeymoon because chances are your spouse remembers or experienced something differently than you did (you do spend most of the day separated), so it will be fun to go back to those memories and laugh and reminisce together in the future."
First Dance
The music at their reception was very important to Kathryn and Kevin—and their families. "We all love to dance so much!" Kathryn told us. The ATL Groove Factory set the mood with the couple's upbeat first dance song: "Signed, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours."
Still Your Little Girl
OK, get the tissues ready for this sweet anecdote. Kathryn says that her favorite moment from the entire day was having a "first look" with her dad before she and Kevin saw each other. "I will never forget that moment as long as I live," she says. "It was probably the most vulnerable I've ever seen my dad, and it bonded us unlike anything has yet in our lives. It reminded us both that he will always be my dad—my main squeeze, as he likes to say—and I will always be his little girl. I will treasure that moment forever."
