I wouldn't call myself a conspiracy theorist, per se—but while I was giving Calvin Harris' latest club hit "This Is What You Came For" another (OK, a one millionth) listen, something stopped me: Did I just hear Taylor Swift?! Based on all the drama that has surrounded their recent breakup, my initial gut told me no. But this song was released prior to their split, and my ears are telling me something totally different.
Now, I'm not trying to steal Rihanna's shine here—about 99 percent of the song is definitely the bad gal's sultry vocals—but I think Taylor's part lies in the song's repetitive "OoOo"s, which are spliced in with RiRi's starting at the 0:35 mark. Confused? As was I. But really listen at the time marks below—even if it's all Rihanna, she's doing her best T.Swift impression.
You can hear the OoOos at 0:35, 0:39, 0:43, 1:21, 1:25, 1:29, 2:39, 2:43, 2:47, 3:41, 3:44, and 3:48:
Of course, I don't know if that's her for certain, but having listened to Tay's extensive discography more frequently than a teenage girl, I know that voice. It's one of the most recognizable in the music world, hence her megastardom. And consider this evidence: It appears Taylor has a writing credit on the track (note: the Wikipedia page has since been changed to Nils Sjöberg, which is reportedly an alias).
Just sayin'.
UPDATE: Aha! The truth has been revealed: Taylor really did write "This Is What You Came For!" Her rep confirmed that Taylor wrote the song under a pseudonym, Nils Sjoberg, for Calvin and the two agreed to keep the collaboration on the down low.
