Jenna Dewan Tatum has fabulous hair no matter what style she chooses. However, her latest hairstyle reinvention is particularly wonderful: bangs.
Yes, Tatum posted a photo of herself on Snapchat rocking some badass bangs, but here is the catch: They're fake! Crazy, right?
Well, not exactly. Faux bangs have been sweeping Hollywood lately, and we have celebrity hairstylist Kristin Ess in part to thank. Ess gave Lucy Hale an amazing fake-bang look a few weeks ago, and she's now done something similar to Tatum. See it for yourself, below:
The key to making fakes look like the real deal? You can't be scared to cut a little bit of your own hair. "They have to be blended well," Ess told us. "In my opinion, you should always be willing to cut a couple of tiny pieces of your own hair—nothing noticeable later—to blend a fake bang. It makes everything way more believable."
Um, yeah, we'll say so. Half the office here was certain Tatum's new look was the marking of major haircut—especially since Tatum posted a video of the entire process on her Snapchat. When you first watch the clip, it looks like Ess is about to go to town on Tatum's hair. However, after you re-watch it knowing Ess' trick, you can totally see how the magic is made.

All that said, the faux method is definitely a great way for anyone who wants to casually try out bangs. And if you have the cut of the moment, the shag—like Tatum does here—and want to experiment with bangs, the trick is having your hairstylist initially style them for you using a razor. "Don't be scared of a razor," Ess says. "It can give you a texture that no thinning shear or scissor can when it comes to a soft shag. If you cut a half moon shape with the razor and leave those slightly longer, wispy bits on the sides next to your cheekbones, they'll blend in perfectly!"
It certainly works for Jenna Dewan Tatum: She looks modern and chic as hell. All hail the newly-anointed queen of bangs.
