Two Women Tried Weed Tampons to Get Rid of Menstrual Cramps

Earlier this year, Foria's cannabis-based vaginal suppositories, AKA weed tampons, came out in California. They come in $44 packs of four, and each contains 60 mg of THC and 10 mg of CBD. According to Foria's website, "the vaginal suppository format helps deliver the medicine directly to where it is needed most."

While a number of brands have been releasing similar weed products aimed at menstrual relief, the research is iffy on whether marijuana can actually ease period pains. So two women did their own personal experiment.

Morgan and Ochi both suffer from severe period cramps and typically treat them with pain relievers. For the sake of science, they tried the famous weed tampon as an alternative.

Urologist Dr. Jennifer Berman explains in the Buzzfeed Yellow video that "weed tampon" is a misnomer because the product won't get you high. In fact, it doesn't even go to your head (unless, we'll soon find, you misuse it). Everything stays right down where you put it.

Morgan confirms after a few hours that she doesn't feel stoned. However, she also doesn't feel numb down there like she expects.

After nearly five hours, Ochi doesn't feel high either, but she does feel "relaxed and tired."

"I don't even feel that dull, throbbing pain, like when you take something and it takes that top-level pain away but that bottom-level pain still remains," she explains.

"It kind of feels like I took an Advil," says Morgan. However, she confesses at the end, she put half of hers in and ate the other half, so you may want to take her reaction with a grain of salt. She leaves us with a warning: "They're really, really, really strong" if you eat them.

Ochi, on the other hand, recommends them. She experienced pain relief while remaining "clear-headed," she says. Several other women have reviewed the suppositories positively.

That said, reactions to the product will probably vary from person to person. This video won't tell you how you'll react, but at the very least, it will entertain you.
