Sarah Paulson has opened up about the challenges of playing Marcia Clark in "American Crime Story: People v OJ Simpson."
In an interview with Variety, the actress shared how the role challenged her not just physically but also emotionally. She also talked about her dedication to give an accurate portrayal of Clark.
"There have been very few roles where I've finished, and gone into my trailer and just wept like a baby," Paulson said. "It happened after season two of 'Horror Story' and it happened after Marcia. I was so devastated to be finished doing it."
The actress added that if she were given a chance to portray the character for as long as she could, she would play the role "for the rest of my life."
Speaking of the preparation she made for the role, Paulson said she paid a lot of attention to details of Clark's appearance and mannerisms. The actress even wore the perfume the prosecutor wore.

Paulson has gone far and wide for the character and she hopes nothing but to give it justice.
"It was really hard to do and I hope I got it right, because I did have the honor of meeting Marcia," the actress told The Daily Beast. "Because of all the research I did and all of the stuff that actually delves into her personal life, I feel so much empathy for her and what she went through."
Paulson also has nothing but good words for the former prosecutor.
"Marcia Clark today is a very successful, fully realized person," she said. "I don't know many people who could have undergone that kind of public scrutiny, be blamed for so much, and to continue to live a happy, engaged life."
The actress added: "My biggest hope is that it makes everybody rethink what they thought about her."
