"Black Sails" star Toby Stephens recently sat down to discuss the third season and hinted that his character is going to be shocked when he sees Eleanor Guthrie return with Woodes Rogers.
Stephens told Collider that even though Captain Flint ended his relationship with Eleanor Guthrie, he's deeply unsettled when he learns she struck a deal with Woodes Rogers, who is the Royal Governor of the Bahamas.
"Flint thinks she's gone to England in order to be tried and formally hung," he explained. "When she comes back with Woodes Rogers, for Flint, that's a very dangerous thing. What Woodes Rogers is a very dangerous thing. England is using him as a tool to control and Eleanor is just trying to survive. She's trying to go from almost being hung to somebody who has influence again. It's a long journey for her."
The "Black Sails" star also hinted that Captain Flint and Blackbeard are going to make an uneasy alliance in order to get rid of Woodes Rogers.
"Things are slowly drawing to a point and all of these guys are being forced together," Stephens said. "They all end up basically having a common purpose, which is survival. What's interesting is the moment they find common growth through necessity. They're never going to be buddies, but necessity demands that they actually come to some sort of agreement."
Aside from Stephens' musings on the third season, STARZ recently released the official synopsis for the second episode.
According to Carter Matt, Rogers and Eleanor are going to negotiate the terms of their agreement.
While they bicker, the crew of the Walrus is going to engage in a battle with the elements and Teach is going to face off against Rackham.
"Black Sails" season three is currently airing on Saturday nights at 9 p.m. on STARZ.
