Is "Nashville's" future in jeopardy on the cusp of Hayden Panettiere's return to the popular ABC drama?
During the 2016 Winter TCA Press Tour, ABC's president Paul Lee revealed that despite the absence of one the series major stars for the better part of the show's fourth season, "Nashville" still has a future at the network.
"We don't have any plans to finish Nashville," he said, according to Deadline.
Lee added the network has "no plans for Nashville other than to keep it going."
Hayden Panettiere's character of Juliette Barnes will return to the series in April after being off the show for the better part of the season.
Panettiere has reportedly begun taping her episodes to air during that time according to TV Line.
Sources confirmed to TV Line that popular the actress reported back to the set to begin work.
According to TV Line, Panettiere will appear on the season's 14th episode, which will air in April.
Panettiere left the series to deal with issues related to her postpartum depression following the birth of daughter Kaya.
"Nashville" star Riley Smith (Marcus) remarked that he had been in contact with the star during her absence from the show.
"I texted her and wished her well. She texted me right back and said, 'I'm awesome, thanks.' So hopefully she will be back on the set soon," he stated in an interview with Us Magazine, prior to Panettiere's return to the set.
The actress realized she had an issue she needed intervention for after the birth of her beautiful baby girl.
She tellingly revealed in an interview with Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan on their ABC morning talk show, " "It's something a lot of women experience. When [you're told] about postpartum depression you think it's 'I feel negative feelings towards my child, I want to injure or hurt my child,'" the actress revealed in September.
"I've never, ever had those feelings. Some women do. But you don't realize how broad of a spectrum you can really experience that on. It's something that needs to be talked about. Women need to know that they're not alone and that it does heal," Panettiere remarked.
"Nashville" will return from its midseason break on March 16 to ABC.
