Contrary to reports of jealousy and an unhappy marriage, "The Vampire Diaries" star Ian Somerhalder is still quite besotted with his wife Nikki Reed.
In fact, Somerhalder recently gushed that he feels like the luckiest man alive "every single morning I wake up" because he is with his wife and family of animals.
"Every single day. Look who I get to wake up with," he told PEOPLE. "We're under kitties and dogs, and it's just pure bliss."
According to the actor, it is up to people to determine their own happiness.
"It has to be a conscious effort to wake up and recognize all the beauty in our lives," he said. "I'm grateful."
Somerhalder and Reed have been married for over nine months already. Despite persistent rumors that Somerhalder still has feelings for his ex-girlfriend and former "The Vampire Diaries" leading lady Nina Dobrev, the two have made it a point to express their love for one another on their social media accounts.
Just a few days ago, Somerhalder posted a throwback wedding photo on his Instagram account and wrote, "9 months of amazing marriage to this amazing human. Happy 9 months my one and only human - I can't wait for the rest. So many many many more to come and fill with memories. I love you."
As for Reed, she shared a photo of a tree stump with the words "I love you" written on it.
She then told her husband: "You are my every dream brought to life. With our hands pressed together I know that we will always find our way home."
She raved about Somerhalder being "a gift to this world, a teacher of light and a student of love."
"You radiate warmth in vibrant reds and deep orange hues. I often wonder what it would be like to see autumn arrive through your eyes," she added.
