"Grease Live" was a ratings smash for Fox, winning a lion's share of viewers and tying with "The Sound of Music Live" for the most watched live television event thus far on television. But what really went on behind-the scenes?
The work to put such a massive production together took months of preparation.
With over a dozen sets built onto the Warner Bros. backlot, "Grease Live" was an undertaking unlike any other Fox had ever attempted before.

In a behind-the-scenes video shared to Facebook, the event's Associate Director Carrie Havel shared what it was in the control room.
"A lot of people have asked what it means to be the Associate Director on a show like Grease: Live. Here's a peek behind the curtain," Havel revealed.
"Every shot in the show was designed and scripted by our director Alex Rudzinski," Havel posted on Facebook.
"My job was to execute that plan. You hear me calling shot numbers and camera moves carefully coordinated with the music. My head stays in the script and Alex, to my right, keeps an eye on cameras to adjust framing and pacing," she shared of the live event.
The Fox special starred Aaron Tveit, Julianne Hough, Vanessa Hudgens, Carly Rae Jepsen, Carlos PenaVega, Keke Palmer, Kether Donohue, Jordan Fisher, David Del Rio and Andrew Call.
"Grease Live" scored 12.2 million viewers and a staggering 4.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic according to E!
"I'm thrilled for everybody involved," said the show's Executive Producer Mark Platt to The Hollywood Reporter of the event's success.
"All of these live events, particularly these live musicals are such challenging undertakings for anybody who does it and given all the elements you have to contend with, which makes it exciting behind the camera and in front of the camera," he revealed.
"But anything from weather and wind and rain to just the live-ness of the event, and we had a live audience and we had many sets and many locations - that it all worked so well and the joy we had in performing it was clearly felt by people around the country," Platt remarked with thanks towards the viewers.
Fox's next live event will be "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" which will air later in 2016.
