Since Netflix's political drama "House of Cards" starring Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright slightly mirror events in real life, there are some fans who presume that whatever happens in the show will also happen in real life.
But actress Jayne Atkinson, who plays Secretary of State Catherine Durant in the series, believes that it is terribly wrong to make that assumption.
"Wherever there is power; wherever there is political theater - there's a shadow. Because power is that elixir," Atkinson told Fox 5.
Even Spacey, who plays the manipulative politician Frank Underwood, cannot comprehend why people would compare fiction to reality.
"It's sort of silly to compare the two because they're both a little bit unpredictable and audiences have no idea where we're going to go and what we're going to do. And that's, I think, part of the enjoyment that an audience has - they don't really know," he told The Evening Standard.
Spacey also does not like it when the media plays around with the news, because it makes things "predictable."
"If people are bothered by the fact that we seem to be having entertainment as news, it's because the news divisions decided that money and ratings were more important than reporting," he said.
The whole cast of "House of Cards" actually filmed their scenes in Baltimore. Because they were so close to Washington, D.C., they were able to visit the political capital and even hobnobbed with some serving politicians.
On the other hand, Atkinson will be seen in several episodes of season 4 with her husband Michel Gill, who plays President Garrett Walker. Atkinson shared that it has been a real treat working with her husband because they even got to sneak in a few kisses after filming their scenes.
The actress also revealed that they enjoy filming "drinking" scenes. However, they aren't really drinking during those scenes, because water was used in lieu of alcohol.
"House of Cards" season 4 will return to Netflix on March 4.
