Just like Amazon majorly changed the shopping landscape, creating a virtual bazaar with nearly everything a modern human needs, it's now poised to significantly alter the fashion game too. WWD is reporting on job postings looking to fill spots within the Amazon Fashion Private Label Team and "drive the DNA and face of a new brand." What's that you say?
Specific details are scant, but insiders and experts see it as a move for the online giant to capitalize on all the info it's gathered on what we're shopping, when we want it, and what we want that we aren't currently able to find on Amazon. In short, it could become your go-to spot when you need a basic white v-neck or a cheeky, personality-fueled bag charm that you're currently obsessing over after spotting a major street style moment.
"If they can get the trend right and deliver quickly, it will garner recognition," analyst Adam Silverman said, adding that concerns about Amazon's rep as not being super stylish won't matter when it comes to fast fashion where trend, not brand, rules. "Regardless of the brand, you are going to resonate with shoppers by delivering what's hot and what's quick. [Amazon] will need to prove to shoppers that it can be cool, but already younger shoppers appreciate the service that it offers" (mainly speedy shipping and a super easy buying process).
There's no official word on when the new line could launch, but insiders predict early 2017.
