Women of a certain age who remember thinking no one would ever be dreamier than a Titanic-era Leonardo DiCaprio lost it this fall when the internet discovered the star's Swedish doppelgänger, Konrad Annerud. That handsome face wasn't meant to just slide off into the shadows as one of those buzzy web discoveries we freak out over for five minutes and then forget. No. Annerud is back and clearly making it, posing in Ralph Lauren Purple Label's spring 2016 collection for Barneys (the gig marked his first trip to the United States—and he traveled solo!).
The accompanying interview reveals that the model's true passion is singing, and he's especially enamored with Michael Jackson ("he's like Jesus to me," he said, showing off an MJ tattoo and explaining that he's working on an entire "Smooth Criminal"-themed sleeve). Clearly an entertainer, it doesn't seem like he minds the Leo-fueled attention either.
"When the first paper posted [a story], my phone started to ring and it didn't stop. They were calling my mom and my relatives and friends, and I thought, 'Wow, this is getting too big for me,'" he said, adding that he doesn't care about haters who might criticize his success for being based so solidly on a resemblance to a famous man. "F*ck those guys, I'm here in New York City modeling."
