Aside from Chris Hemsworth's lead character Thor in his upcoming standalone movie "Thor: Ragnarok," Marvel fans are also excited to see two particular characters on the big screen: Tom Hiddleston's Loki and Cate Blanchett's mysterious villain.
Director Taika Waititi understands what the fuss is all about, but as much as he would like to discuss their roles in detail, he is bound by secrecy.
"At the moment, everyone's trying to figure it out, like 'What's he going to do?' Everyone loves that character," he told Wired about Loki's involvement in "Ragnarok."
As for Blanchett's character, Waititi refuses to confirm whether or not she will really play Hela, the ruler of Hel and the realm of Niflheim.
"Yeah, the rumor... Here's the thing. I can't say anything. I've probably said way too much," he admitted.
Whatever Blanchett's role might be, all Waititi can assure fans is that it's going to be great.
"Yes. Look, it's so early I'm not sure exactly what the extent of it is, but it's looking good, which would make me very happy," he said.
The director added that he is treating "Ragnarok" as if it's the first "Thor" film, so it will feel fresh and exciting.
Even Mark Ruffalo, who will appear in the film as Hulk, cannot contain his enthusiasm about the movie, particularly about Blanchett's role.
"She's just one of the best, and to have her play a baddie is going to be really exciting," he said during an earlier interview with Entertainment Tonight. "I saw her at the Governors' banquet here and heard that maybe she was circling, they were talking to her about the part, so I ran up to her and I was like, 'Please, please, please make this work!'"
"Thor: Ragnarok" will make its way to cinemas on Nov. 3, 2017.
