The late Robert Kardashian is making headlines 13 years after his death, thanks to Ryan Murphy’s new series “American Crime Story: The People Vs. OJ Simpson.” The true crime series tells the story of O.J. Simpson’s 1994 murder trial and features “Friends” star David Schwimmer as Robert Kardashian.
The Kardashian/Jenner family have also been talking more about Robert recently, posting Instagram photos to commemorate his Feb. 22 birthday — and Kanye West even added a graphic of Robert Kardashian’s face to some of his Yeezy shirts.

1. He was a lawyer and businessman best known for defending O.J. Simpson.
Kardashian earned his law degree from the University of San Diego Law and practiced for about a decade before entering business, co-founding a music trade publication among other ventures. He gained notoriety when he defended his friend O.J. Simpson in the infamous murder trial.
2. He was also involved in the O.J. Simpson case.
Simpson stayed at Kardashian’s home after his wife was found dead. The infamous televised police chase began when Simpson fled Kardashian’s home.
3. But even he had his doubts about O.J.
In a 1996 interview, Kardashian said that even though he defended O.J., “I have doubts. The blood evidence is the biggest thorn in my side; that causes me the greatest problems. So I struggle with the blood evidence.”
4. He was Armenian.
Kim, Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian’s Armenian heritage come from their dad. Robert’s great-grandparents fled the Armenian genocide in the early 1900s and moved to the United States.
5. He was married three times.
Kris Jenner was Robert’s first wife; they were married for 13 years. After they divorced in 1991, Kardashian married Jan Ashley in 1998; the marriage was annulled less than a year later. In 2003, Kardashian married Ellen Pierson six weeks before he died. He was also engaged to Denice Shakarian Halicki in 1991.
6. He had four children.
Robert had four children with Kris Jenner: Kourtney, Kim, Khloe and Robert. All his other marriages were childless.
7. He died in 2003.
Kardashian diedat age 59 on September 30, 2003, just eight weeks after his diagnosis with esophageal cancer.
