(Photo : Official Facebook/Bringing Up Bates) The Up TV series "Bringing Up Bates" shares may similarities with the Duggar clan, but they have some distinct differences as well according to the show's executive producer. (Pictured are Brandon and Michaella Keilen, Kelly Jo and Gil Bates of "BUB.")

The UpTV series "Bringing Up Bates" may share similar values to the beleaguered Duggar clan of "19 Kids and Counting," but that's where the similarities end revealed the show's executive producer.

Michael Hightower, producer of "Bringing Up Bates" revealed to Observer that "There are similarities between the families, but you really can't compare them to each other just as you can't compare any two other families. They're very different from each other in many, many ways, and I think that's all that needs to be said about this."

Hightower also remarked on the lasting popularity of being a voyeur into the lives of supersized families and how they make their day-to-day dynamic work.

"I think it's because people are curious to see how it works with all of these people living together. I mean, I only have two kids and that's enough chaos for me, so 19 of them seems ludicrous, but then you see this family together and you just can't stop watching all of these people interacting," he shared in the same interview.

Although religion is a shared value that runs through both "Bringing Up Bates" and "19 Kids and Counting," both shows are considerably about more than that remarked Hightower of the comparisons.

"If people do that I think they're missing out on a bigger message. You don't have to be religious to see the benefits of how this family treats each other and we're a society that can learn a lot from that," Hightower commented about how big a role religion actually plays in the overall scope of the series.

"I think a lot of families could use that is an example of how to work with each other, no matter what size your family is or what your beliefs system entails," the Up TV producer shared.

"Bringing Up Bates" airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. EST on UP TV.
