"iZombie" co-creators Rob Thomas and Diane Ruggiero-Wright are teasing about the finale episode of season 2. The latter said it is going to be "shocking" for viewers, but the former upped the ante when he said that it is going to be nothing short of "epic."
"Last year, we felt like we had done a big season finale, and I feel like this one dwarfs it," Thomas told Collider. "I don't think a show of our budget has the potential to go any bigger. We saved all year, so that we could blow it out on this final episode, and we really do. It's as close to a traditional zombie movie as we will or have ever done."
The showrunners also said that they have set up the season 3 arc during this season's finale, with Liv Moore (Rose McIver) being presented with a paradigm shift. Instead of going after a villain who is taking out zombies, Liv will be on a different mission.
McIver even said that the big climax of the finale made her cry, and this might have something to do with the fact that not all players are going to survive season 2. Both Thomas and Ruggiero-Wright refuse to divulge who the unlucky character is and are keeping this secret under tight wraps.
Meanwhile, TV Insider has reported that Matchbox 20 lead singer Rob Thomas will appear in episode 17 of "iZombie" season 2, which will air on April 5.
When Max Rager chairman Vaughn Du Clark (Steven Weber) needs a jingle for his new product, he hires Thomas to perform it.
Thomas' song will make its debut on the episode, but he will only appear on screen during the April 12 season finale. There, he will perform one of his songs at the Super Max launch party.
"iZombie" season 2 airs every Tuesday on The CW.
