New spoilers for "The Vampire Diaries" season seven hinted that there is a good chance Stefan Salvatore will team up with Rayna Cruz in order to fight a new threat.
SpoilerTV reported that the CW released the official synopsis for "I Went To The Woods."
In episode 17, Stefan is going to wake up and discover that he has been thrown into a life or death situation with only his basic instincts to help him survive.
With the clock racing against him, Stefan is forced to undertake a journey of survival while he comes to terms with a lifetime of irreversible damages caused by his brother Damon.
Elswhere, Damon is going to follow an unusual lead in a desperate attempt to save his brother while Matt asks Valerie to go to Dallas, Texas and see if Alaric can help them discover Stefan's location.
In an interesting twist, the vampire hunter Rayna Cruz is going to learn about a new threat and will attempt to find Stefan before any of his friends do.
It will be interesting to see if the two enemies wind up settling their differences to confront this new enemy. Perhaps Stefan and Rayna will become friends by the end of "I Went To The Woods."
TV Fanatic added that the CW also released new promotional images for "I Went To The Woods."
The photos for episode 17 revealed that Alaric and Valerie are holding Rayna captive in the hopes that she will divulge Stefan's location.
Given the fact that Rayna is chained to the chair in one of the pictures, it will be interesting to see how she escapes from Alaric's house and teams up with Stefan.
"The Vampire Diaries" season seven will return on Friday, April 1, at 8 p.m. ET on the CW.
