People rarely talk about Irish actress Ruth Kearney without mentioning her other half Theo James, who stars as the mysterious Four in the "Divergent" series.
Due to James' huge fanbase, not to mention fans' ardent desire to link him to his co-star Shailene Woodley, Kearney's name has often been used to fuel gossip about James' and Woodley's possible romance.
However, the actress has better things to worry about than being the subject of gossip columns. In fact, she has recently starred as the young waitress London in the new series "Flaked" together with Will Arnett.
Kearney told Bustle that she loves London's element of surprise.
"Initially, you think she's going to be this typical girl who comes in as a love interest thing, but actually there's so much more beneath the surface and she's going to really cause a little bit of damage," she said.
Kearney was quick to clarify that the "damage" caused by London is unintentional, and it happens only because she goes through life without a plan.
Meanwhile, James is eager to explore new acting territories after he wraps up filming for "Ascendant," which is the final installment for the "Divergent" series.
Action and franchise films are "a box I feel I've checked off," James told the Toronto Sun. "I'm looking forward to doing smaller things for a little bit. In a way I have less experience with them, so I need to develop myself as an actor and as a person."
James admitted that he "maintains a level of fitness" even when he is not doing movies, but he would have to do something else to prepare for his priest role in "The Secret Scripture."
"And even doing 'Secret Scripture,' I couldn't be six pack-ridden as a priest in the 1940s. That would be ridiculous. So there's a bit of to-ing and fro-ing with your body shape anyway," he said.
"Flaked" started airing on Netflix on March 11.
