Anthony Vaccarello, Known for Designing Sexy Dresses for Gisele, Goes to Yves Saint Laurent

How do you say "musical chairs" in French?

If fashion history has taught us anything, it's that when one designer exits their position as creative director of a brand, it affects us all. So how does the latest news from Paris, that Anthony Vaccarello is taking over the design helm at Dior affect you? Well, it's a ripple affect, but hear us out. Firstly, designers moving around mean vacant spots and opportunities for newness in style on the runway, and yes, on your person. Just think what kick-ass female designer Bouchra Jarrar will do for her first collection at Lanvin next season. And Demna Gvasalia's knockout first collection for Balenciaga already sent us shopping for brand0new denim jackets, like the ones seen on the runway. Last but not least, Alessandro Michele's Gucci collections have us running to our grandmother's closets to borrow pearls, slingbacks and cardigans! The vacant spot at Dior (Arguably, the most tony of them all) is very much a hot ticket after last year's departure of the much-loved Raf Simons (there's still time to send in your resume, so go for it. Hey, YOLO).

But Vaccarello's appointment at Yves Saint Laurent (yes, it's back to Yves Saint Laurent; no more of the truncated "Saint Laurent") after last week's news of Hedi Slimane's exit is especially interesting and may just have you looking at some majorly sexy clothes on the runway, the red carpet, and quite possibly, in your closet. YSL is historically one of the most influential houses in Paris, on par with Dior. From ready-to-wear, to It shoes and handbags, the chances are that if you don't own something from the band, you probably own a piece that was inspired by its runway.

So who is Anthony Vaccarello? Well, the 36-year-old Belgian-Italian designer, who has his own eponymous collection and most recently helped design at Versus Versace, is pals with your favorite models, like Anja Rubik, Karlie Kloss, and more, who rock his slit-to-there skirts and chain mail-embellished dresses both off and on the runway.

The designer will show his first collection for Yves Saint Laurent in October according to Women's Wear Daily, during Pairs Fashion Week. And while the future is still being written, our crystal ball is telling us to go ahead and get some self-tanner ready for your gams. Short skirts are most definitely in our future.
