"Switched at Birth" fans, there might be some good news on the horizon.
In March, Freeform announced that "Switched at Birth" would end after its fifth season – which is set to premiere in 2017. Apparently, fans were not happy with that decisions.
Dedicated "Switched at Birth" fan Tay Dag created a petition on Change.org pleading fans to keep the series on the air.
"'Switched At Birth' is an amazing show that not only gives entertainment but also at the same time raises awareness and deaf culture," Dag wrote. "After watching the first season of this show I gained a high interest in sign language and deaf culture. Switched At Birth is an amazing show and deserves more time before it is ended."
"Switched at Birth" was the first mainstream television series with a predominantly deaf and hard-of-hearing cast, which probably plays a huge role in the series' fanbase.
The petition, which started with one signature, now has 2,418 signatures. Dag's efforts have even caught the attention of some of the "Switched at Birth" cast. Including Marlee Matlin — the only deaf performer to win an Academy Award — who plays Melody on the series.

It is not definite that the petition will change anything, however, if it garners enough attention the network might be forced to take it into account.
If you would like to keep "Switched at Birth" alive, you can sign the petition on Change.org.
"Switched at Birth" season 5 is expected in Spring 2017.
