Prince William banished the ghosts of the past as he sat down with his wife, the Duchess of Cambridge, on the same marble bench as his late mother, Princess Diana, at the Taj Mahal reports The Daily Mail.

In 1992, while her husband met with local businessmen, the Princess of Wales sat alone on a bench outside the spectacular marble mausoleum, the Taj Mahal. Only a few months later, the couple announced that they were separating and that picture of a forlorn Diana alone at the so-called "monument of love" became symbolic of her loneliness and one of the iconic images of the Wales' failed relationship.

Again, from The Daily Mail: "Dressed in a purple and red outfit, a then 30-year-old Diana told reporters she found the experience "very healing." When pressed to explain herself, the princess replied: "Work it out for yourself.""
Fast forward 24 years and her son, Prince William led his wife of almost five years to that very same spot to pose for the cameras. The emotion captured in the photo could not be in starker contrast to the original. The Cambridges are clearly very much in love, a fact that has been clear many times during their week-long tour of India and Bhutan.

Kate, 34, looked effortlessly cool in a striking white dress with bright blue embroidery by Indian designer Naeem Khan, while William was smart casual in chinos, a jacket and an open-necked shirt.

Earlier in the day the couple left Bhutan again looking sartorially splendid, even in the rain. Catherine wore a white Alexander McQueen eyelet jacket and skirt while William was dressed in a smart suit. The Duchess charmingly sported a necklace given to her by the Queen of Bhutan.
