4. Zee And Husband Ben Aaron Compete On Different News Networks
Zee wed Aaron in 2014 on the shores of Lake Michigan in a "charming, intimate ceremony," Zee said of the event to People. Aaron is an NBC News correspondent, a competing network to Zee's ABC News.
"Ben is my partner for life," Zee stated to the magazine. "I knew it as soon as I met him. I've never been more ready for anything in my life."
The couple recently welcomed their first son together, Adrian.
3. She Is An Admitted Storm Chaser
Zee became passionate about the weather when she was a kid watching storms over Lake Michigan, according to her ABC News biography. In an interview with the Discovery Channel, Zee remarked that she became a storm chaser after a class at her alma mater, Valparaiso University.
"You can earn the chance to become part of VUSIT (Valparaiso University Storm Intercept Team) and take a three-credit course titled 'Storm Chasing.' I took this course and we traveled to nearly every state in Tornado Alley and beyond in a ten-day trip. We saw almost a half-dozen tornadoes and so many beautiful storms. I learned more on that trip than I had in my first three years of school," said Zee to the Discovery Channel.
2. Zee Was Named Ginger Because Of Her Father's Love Of The Television Show "Gilligan's Island"
The meteorologist was named Ginger because her father, who moved to the United States from the Netherlands and didn't speak English, loved the 1960s television series "Gilligan's Island." Ginger was his favorite character. Zee said that her real last name, Zuidgeest, is "long and Dutch", according to a story by the Chicago Tribune.

"I'm lucky [because] ABC, Val, everyone's so supportive," Zee explained in an interview with Entertainment Tonight of her "DWTS" experience. "My husband [Ben Aaron], I've got a great team around me and it takes a village to raise a child. It's just going to be a bigger village now."
"I always want to make sure that [my son] Adrian comes first -- my son is going to be No. 1, no matter what," Zee continued of the challenge. "If something happened, I would, of course, be like, 'Sorry, Val! I can't do it. I've got a kid.' But I think he's healthy, he's happy and I just want him to be proud of his mom."
"Dancing with the Stars" airs Mondays at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
