"House of Cards" star Kevin Spacey said that their show has the amazing ability to "predict the future," since whatever happens on the show somehow happens also in real life.
During its fourth season, the show featured its own presidential election, and they even had a "contested convention," wherein neither candidate received majority of votes from delegates.
Spacey, who plays the ambitious politician Frank Underwood in the series, said that this is likely to happen at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland in July.
"By the way, this has happened every season," Spacey explained on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert."
"We have the writers, we have discussed the story lines, where we want to go, the arc of the show, we write it, we film it and then just before it airs, something that we have done happens in real life. In every season this has happened," he continued. "And we think people are going to assume we ripped it from the headlines, right? But in fact it's been the other way around."
Because of this, Spacey is already planning to include a "really awesome" plot next season, so that it would also come to life.
"So we've decided that the thing that we should do is write something into the show that will be really awesome to have happen, like $965 billion gets put into The National Endowment for the Arts," Spacey laughingly said. "And then let's see if we can make it happen! It's an awesome idea."
Earlier, the actor told Raw Story that sometimes he would doubt whether or not they have "gone too far" with their storyline or "crossed the Rubicon" by creating "something unbelievable."
But when he turns on the TV and watches the news, he is led to believe that they "haven't gone far enough."
