Major Lilywhite (Robert Buckley) definitely hit one snag after another in "iZombie" season 2, from being forced to take out zombies to getting arrested for it and becoming a zombie himself.
When season 3 rolls around, Buckley thinks that his character will only continue facing one bad streak after another.
"Selfishly I'd love to see things go well for him, but as a viewer I think it's far more interesting to watch him just get shattered and his dreams be destroyed. It makes for good TV. No one wants to see happy people do well," he laughingly told Comic Book Resources. "That's why you flip past anti-depressant commercials. We know how it ends. The gray cloud disappears, they're in the park, they're happy."
As for his co-star David Anders, who plays the villain Blaine DeBeers, he was happy that his character lost all of his memories in season 2 and was given the chance to become the good guy for a change.
"I think it's important to round the character out and give him as many different hues as possible rather than just that mustache twirling villain - that I can do, but I can also do other things," he said. "I obviously can do other things and I think that appealed to the fans in different ways this season."
Blaine was really an enterprising fellow when he was a zombie, but Anders thinks that he actually enjoys being a human more.
"He likes being able to taste food and do the sex," he laughingly said. "He's capable of awful things, human or zombie."
Anders earlier said that "iZombie" is worth watching because it has equal parts fun, drama and action.
"It's very funny," Anders told Parade of the show. "That's what drew me to it in the first place. It's full of funny, talented actors."
"I love shows like ours that can do it all. It can be very violent; it can be mean. But it can be frothy and fun," he added.
"iZombie" season 3 is slated for the 2016-2017 roster of The CW.
