"Mr. Robot" star Christian Slate has opened up about the preparations that he, his fellow cast members and the crew have been making for the hit USA network show's second season.
In an interview with Variety, the actor said that they're doing a different approach to filming the upcoming installment of the show. Instead of doing a week-by-week table reads, they did a one-time reading of six episodes. And then they did another session for the remaining four episodes.
"I've bene blown away by the writers' and Sam Esmail's ability to prepare," Slater said, adding that Esmail, the series' creator, has been good at making sure that all of the cast members are on the same page in terms of the season's plot.
"It's a very mysterious show," Slater said. "I think it would be that much more difficult if the actors were in the dark as well."
The people behind the show have also been trying to prepare well for the second season because of the pressure that comes with the series getting critical acclaims, Esmail said.

"The first season's critical acclaim and the response gave us a lot of confidence," the showrunner said. "But it's almost like the pressure kind of cancels it out. I'm back to square one, which is exactly where I think we should be in terms of approaching the story for the second season."
Despite the pressure, Esmail remains positive that he and everyone else on the show can pull things off and give a good season for viewers.
As for what the show will feature, in terms of plot, Esmail said fans should brace themselves for a "very different" season.
"In the first season, because Elliot wasn't aware, there was a mystery about who Mr. Robot was and what his real motivations were," Esmail told Entertainment Weekly. "Now we know, so what does that mean? What does Elliot really want?"
"Mr. Robot" season 2 has not been given an air date yet, but filming has already started.
