Korean actress Lee Young Ae, who is best known for her lead role in the historical K-drama "Dae Jang Geum" (a.k.a. "Jewel In The Palace") and in Park Chan Wook's crime thriller film "Sympathy For Lady Vengeance," is making a comeback after a 10 year absence.
"Saimdang, The Herstory," which was scheduled to premiere in the spring, is now postponed to premiere in the fall of 2016. The periodical K-drama is based on the life of Shin Saimdang, a female artist and mother of the Korean Confucian scholar Yulgok in the 1500s, DramaFever said. Lee Young Ae will play two roles -- Shin Saimdang and a modern day art history professor -- and travel back and forth in time throughout the drama.
When Lee Young Ae confirmed to film "Saimdang: Her Story" in March 2015, the producers revealed that the drama was written exclusively for Lee Young Ae. "We decided that Lee Young Ae's sophisticated, elegant personality would fit perfectly with the image of Shin Saimdang. We are already looking forward to her reconstruction of the character," the representative from the drama production company said according to DramaFever.
"Saimdang: Her Story" now plans to premiere in the second half of 2016. In addition to Lee Young Ae, actor Song Seung Hun, actress Oh Yoon Ah and more will star in the grand periodical K-drama.
