There was a time when "Orange is the New Black" star Ruby Rose battled with depression, and she thought that she no longer had the strength to live another day, let alone pursue her goal of becoming an actress.
Thankfully, those dark days are behind her. However, Rose knows that there are many others who are going through the same ordeal that she went through, and this is why it is so important for her to inspire people to never to give up on life and continue reaching for their dreams.
"So, my message was really just that, to really reflect on how many people in the world right now feel like they don't want to go on another day, or they can't go on another day, and they're just seconds or minutes or days away from reaching their full potential and blossoming and being free and happy," she told E! News at the GLAAD Media Awards.
"I just thought that's got to be millions of people and that's just my message. Just hang in there, like one day at a time, and it does get better. I know that's cliché, but it just does," she added.
Rose explained that choosing to fight depression means she'd be able to live. Back then, she had no idea that she would get to live this "extraordinary life" that she has now, and she is beyond grateful that she didn't cave in to her depression.
One of the things that Rose is thankful for is being a part of Jenji Kohan's show "Orange is the New Black." She admitted to AOL that she does not know yet what will happen to her character Stella Carlin in season 4, but she has no doubt that amazing things are in store for the show.
"Every single person that works on that show is so brilliantly gifted in what they do that it just rubs off on you," she gushed. "The quintessential thing on that show is that all of the women support each other. That's the biggest different between that show and some other shows that are out there: It's not a common thing for a show that has that many women - acting, directing, writing - all get along as well as the family at 'Orange' do."
The new season will premiere on June 17.
