"Outlander" star Caitriona Balfe recently sat down to discuss the second season and hinted that her character Claire Fraser is going to have a potentially fatal clash with a new enemy named the Comte St. Germain.
In the "Outlander" season two premiere, Claire Fraser made an enemy of the Comte St. Germain after she inadvertently caused his merchant ships to be destroyed because she revealed the crew was sick with smallpox. The Comte was furious and vowed to get revenge against the Frasers.
Balfe hinted to TVLine that Claire and the Comte St. Germain are going to have a deadly showdown in an upcoming episode of "Outlander" season two.
"The Comte St. Germain is out for revenge after his ships were destroyed," she explained. "He's a very interesting character and we don't quite know what is deal is. As the season progresses, they cross paths quite a few times with almost fatal consequences."
Balfe's co-star Sam Heughan added that the Frasers are going to be constantly looking over their shoulder because there are too many enemies lurking in the shadows.
"Paris is a very dangerous place," he said. "It is hard to know who your enemy or your ally is and that is the consequence of maneuvering themselves into this society. There are many dangerous enemies that they face in season two."
Aside from Balfe discussing Claire's future showdown with the Comte St. Germain, STARZ also released a new clip from "Outlander" season two, episode two.
Entertainment Weekly reported that the preview revealed Jamie's cousin Jared managed to help him arrange a meeting with Prince Charles Stuart.
While Claire is thrilled at this first step towards stopping the Jacobite rebellion, Jamie is clearly uncomfortable at the prospect of meeting Bonnie Prince Charlie in a brothel.
"Outlander" season two is currently airing on Saturday nights at 9 p.m. ET on STARZ.
