"Pretty Little Liars" season 7 is already underway, but Ashley Benson, who plays Hanna on the show, still cannot get over a surprising arc that was introduced in season 6B.
Speaking of her character's ex-boyfriend's pairing with her friend, Benson told Entertainment Tonight: "I cried. Like literally, I cried. I was so upset."
The actress continued: "I was like, 'You have to change it! There's no other guy for Hanna.' And when I found out he was going to be with Spencer, I was like, 'There's no way. You cannot be with Spencer!' I was like literally crying."
Benson said she was so depressed about it that she watched Hanna and Caleb videos on YouTube. The actress also said that she tried to get the writers to change the course of the story. It didn't happen immediately, but by the end of season 6B it appeared as though Hanna and Caleb were ready to get back together.

"I definitely tried to get in the writers' room and say, 'How can we get this different? Can we just do one episode where they're not together?'" she said. "[Series creator] Marlene [King] was like, 'Ashley, the fans have to go through this.' And I was like, 'No! The fans are going to hate it!'"
Benson previously hinted that it might still be not the end for Hanna and Caleb.
Speaking with Ocean Drive Magazine, the actress said:" I'm excited for people to hate that they're not together. There's going to be twists and turns in her new relationship, and Caleb's going to be there. He's very much a part of her life. Fans are going to be surprised at how everything has turned out, but I think it will be a fun journey for them."
See if Hanna and Caleb will get back together when "Pretty Little Liars" season 7 premieres in June.
