"Prison Break" 2016 has a new cast member. Faran Tahir has joined the Fox revival series in a recurring role. Apart from the news of his casting, the premiere date of the show has also been teased.
The actor took to Facebook to announce the news, saying: "I will be playing the recurring role of Jamil on Prison Break: Sequel (Mini TV Series) Season 5 which is expected to air from September 2016."
Speaking of how he landed the role, the actor told The Express Tribune: "Actually, my agent was approached for the TV series offering me this specific role and I accepted."
Tahir added, in reference to the show's plot: "The beauty of the show is the reunion of all these loved characters with the inclusion of some new ones. What I can say is that the story has been taken forward in a very smart way."
As for the character he will be playing, the actor shared: "For 'Prison Break' season 5, I will be playing the role of a man who has an inner conflict, which again is something I love experimenting with ... I always enjoy playing characters that have a very human element [to them]."

Tahir added that he enjoys the challenge of doing complex characters and that he makes sure not to get typecast into certain roles.
The actor will join other newcomers on the show: Mark Feuerstein, August Prew and Rick Yune.
Many of the show's original cast will also reprise their roles, including Wentworth Miller (Michael Scofield), Dominic Purcell (Lincoln Burrows), Sarah Wayne Callies (Dr. Sara Tancredi), Robert Knepper (Theodore "T-Bag" Bagwell), Amaury Nolasco (Fernando Sucre), Paul Adelstein (Paul Kellerman) and Rockmond Dunbar (Benjamin Miles "C-Note" Franklin).
"Prison Break" first aired in 2005.
