We all know of Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai’s famous love connection in the Bollywood industry and were even in a relationship for some time. After breaking up, the former Miss World accused her ex-boyfriend of harassing her, but that’s all in the past now.
The former Miss World has been busy filming for “Sarbjit,” directed by Omung Kumar, who also directed “Mary Kom," and new reports are stating that Khan was supposed to feature in the film.
In the movie, Rai’s character, Dalbir Kaur, fought for justice for her brother Sarbjit Singh, who was jailed in Pakistan. Now, the story will be told through the biopic, directed by Omung Kumar, but apparently there’s an important part of her struggle missing from the film.
According to India Today, Salman Khan’s initiative to help Sarbjit is not a part of the film. In 2012, when Dalbir was fighting for her brother, the Bollywood star extended his help to free Sarbjit from prison.
“Sarabjit strayed into Pakistan 3 months after the blasts n was taken in custody as Manjit Singh, case of mistaken identity.22yrs in jail,” tweeted Khan.
The real Dalbir Khan recently spoke up about Khan’s initiative to help, saying, “I am so glad that Salman Khan has taken the initiative on Sarabjit’s issue. Woh kafi gambhir hain iss masle ko lekar (Salman is quite serious about this issue). He is not just tweeting, but he is with us until Sarbjit was not release. It’s not that he is just tweeted and leaving the issue unsorted.”
However, reports are stating that Khan’s part won’t be in the film, and there is speculation that it is because of Rai and Khan’s dating past.
“The Salman chapter being dropped perhaps has something to do with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan playing Dalbir. There is no other reason to not include this important part in the film,” said a source to DNA. “Salman and Aishwarya are not on talking terms, so it wouldn’t have been possible to even get them to face the camera together. In cases where actors don’t want to shoot together, often these scenes are shot separately but in this case, they have to be face-to-face, so the makers decided no to include that incident in the film.”
However, the spokesperson of the film had a different reason, saying, “This is not part of the film because the film has to convey and show 23 years of Dalbir’s struggle and it’s not possible to show every incident.”
The movie is reportedly about the journey of the protagonist, Sarbjit Singh, by mistake crossed the border and was captured by security forces in Pakistan and claimed that the man was a spy. After spending 23 years in jail for the crime he never committed, Sarbjit was killed by an inmate.
In order to make the role look realistic, Hooda, who plays Sarbjit, had to lose a lot of weight to look so emaciated.
Bachchan, who plays Sarbjit’s sister, Dalbir Kaur, in the movie, is seen with a traumatized look on her face in the poster after going through this life-altering experience.
The production company of the film, T-Series, also tweeted about the release date of Rai’s film, saying, “#Sarbjit, one of the most awaited films of 2016, will be releasing on May 20, 2016! Mark the date!”
