"Thor: Ragnarok" is already in the works with Chris Hemsworth set to reprise his role as the god of thunder, while Mark Ruffalo will take part in the film as Hulk.
One of the most exciting developments of the third installment is getting Cate Blanchett to play the role of the villain, most likely Hela.
Now, a new report has come from Latino Review stating that Natalie Portman will not return to the franchise as Jane Foster. Instead, Marvel is getting "Creed" star Tessa Thompson to portray Valkyrie, who is described as "a kind of superhero and will appear in other Marvel films as well."
In the comic books, Valkyrie's real name is Brunnhilde. She is chosen by Odin to lead the Valkyrior, which is a group of Asgardians who roam battlefields in search for their honorable dead.
After "Thor: Ragnarok," Thompson will reportedly appear again as Valkyrie in "Avengers: Infinity War."
Another character people are excited to see in the film is Tom Hiddleston's Loki. The English actor is keen on reprising his role as the god of mischief, but said that the third "Thor" film might be his last for Marvel.
"'Thor 3' will be cool because I've not done it for four years," Hiddleston told The Daily Beast. "I love working with Chris [Hemsworth]. This will be my last time out of the gate."
Despite his alarming statement, Hiddleston was quick to clarify that he does not really know what Marvel's plans for him are.
"Honestly, I don't know," he admitted. "They haven't got their ducks in a row yet. They make it up as they go along."
The one thing that Hiddleston is certain of is that it would be "extraordinary" to appear in "Ragnarok" together with Blanchett as the villain.
"I don't know if she's definitely doing it, but obviously she's an extraordinary actress," he said. "If she's up for coming to Asgard, that would be interesting."
"Thor: Ragnarok," which is directed by Taika Waititi, will be released on Nov. 3, 2017.
