It seems only appropriate, as the rhyme suggests, that many parts of the country woke up to a rainy first day of April this morning. As we struggled with whether or not to slip into heavy wellies, or opt for a pair of skinny jeans instead of the fussy dress we originally planned for, one thing was for certain: Our look would be topped with the timeless classic trench coat.
No matter what you’re wearing underneath, a trench will always be a classic topper. We toss one over our shoulders on a rainy day and instantly feel like Brigitte Bardot or Françoise Hardy. The perfect springtime weight, in a go-with-anything neutral tan, the trench not only protects us from the elements in the chicest of ways, but is also tailored such that it will elevate your weekend denim look and pair perfectly with your office suiting.
As we await the promised May flowers that follow current April showers, we celebrate our favorite trench coat moments (and look to these fashion icons for inspiration as we shop for a new addition to our wardrobe, as well.)
