The ABC show "Once Upon A Time" has reinvigorated well-loved fairy tales and incorporated the stories of mythological characters and medieval legends into its storyline as well.
Just when you thought that the show has tapped out all of its possible characters, lead star Jennifer Morrison, who plays Emma Swan in the series, has teased who they're going to featue next.
"We're going to see the beginning of the new literary characters that are going to join the show next year," she told Hollywood Life.
However, who these "literary characters" are still remain a mystery. For the season 5 finale, Sam Witwer of "Battlestar Galactica" and Hank Harris of "The Man in the High Castle" will join the cast by playing an evil warden of a mental institution and his troubled patient, respectively.
Are they the "literary characters" Morrison is teasing about? Fans have actually speculated that the two will be the Brothers Grimm, but showrunners Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz have dismissed these rumors.
Kitsis told Entertainment Weekly that they would like to keep fans guessing about these two additions for a while.
"What's fun about those two characters is very similar to season 1, when we didn't know who Graham was, and we were guessing sometimes what character they are," he said. "The finale will work much like that, in that the question of who these two are will be part of what the story is."
Horowitz added that Witwer and Harris' characters will serve a "pivotal role" in the season finale.
"Where they're from, who they are, and what they're doing does tee up an element of what we're doing for season 6. It's more like opening a door, rather than introducing the whole of what season 6 will be. Hopefully we're giving you a little taste of what's to come," he said.
"Once Upon a Time" airs every Sunday at 8 p.m. on ABC.
