The 2016 Oscar nominations are quickly approaching. Everyone has been speculating about who will take home some of the night's biggest awards.
One award we are looking forward to is Best Animated Feature. Pixar is typically the one studio that dominates this category, but they have not seen a win or even a nomination since 2012 with "Brave." One of their recent films, "Monsters University," was even snubbed from this category in 2013.
However, fans and movie goers alike are speculating that the 2016 Oscars will be Pixar's comeback, thanks to "Inside Out" and "The Good Dinosaur." Here are three reasons why we agree that this year will be Pixar's comeback.
3. A stellar cast.
A film's cast does not always guarantee a film will receive Oscar nominations, but the cast of "Inside Out," specifically, was one to be remembered. The film featured Amy Poehler, Phyllis Smith, Mindy Kaling, Bill Hader and Lewis Black playing emotions Joy, Sadness, Disgust, Fear and Anger inside a little girl's head.
The cast has received so much praise that some of the actors have already received major award nominations and wins. Poehler's work as "Joy" earned her a win for Best Animated Female at the Women Film Critics Circle Awards and nominations for the same category at the People's Choice Awards, Teen Choice Awards and the Annie Awards. Smith's work as "Sadness" earned her an Annie Award nomination as well, in the same category as Poehler.
2. Heartwarming stories.
Pixar's films are typically always remembered for their touching stories. "Inside Out," specifically, follows the mind and emotions of a young girl, Riley, trying to live her life through a difficult move. Along the way, Riley loses some of her childhood memories, childhood friends and joyful emotions, which lead to some heartbreaking scenes that left audiences in tears.

Pixar's "The Good Dinosaur"
"The Good Dinosaur," on the other hand, takes place in a world where dinosaurs never went extinct. It follows a dinosaur named Arlo, who tragically loses his father and is misplaced from his home early in the film. He and his human friend Spot must try to find their way home together.
1. The films' critical acclaims.
Prior to the release of both "Inside Out" and "The Good Dinosaur," critics believed Pixar's glory days were over. From 2000 till 2010, Pixar dominated the Best Animated Feature category at the Oscars with films such as "Toy Story 3," "Up" and "Wall-E," but they then saw a decline in recognition. One critic, Christopher Orr of "The Atlantic," thought Pixar was in a sad decline.
"There are no genuine emotional stakes, no deeper resonance, no underlying moral architecture," Orr wrote about Pixar's efforts, before "Inside Out" and "The Good Dinosaur."
However, critics all agreed that "Inside Out" and "The Good Dinosaur" brought Pixar back to what it does best. "Inside Out," specifically, went on to place on countless top ten films lists of 2015, including securing the No. 2 spot by Rotten Tomatoes and the No. 4 spot by Metacritic. According to Critics Top 10, "Inside Out" was one of the most acclaimed films of 2015, by placing on 308 lists and topping 26 of them. "Inside Out" has even been considered by many to be a serious contender for Best Picture at the 2016 Oscars.
Despite not receiving as much acclaim as "Inside Out," "The Good Dinosaur" was praised as well. CinemaScore gave the film an A on an A+ to F scale, and Kenneth Turan of the "Los Angeles Times" gushed over the film's incredible setting. He said the film featured "some of the most beautiful landscapes ever seen in a computer animated film."
