After a tumultuous 2015, John Stamos has made a resolution for 2016 to not only take better care of himself, but others around him as well.

The " and "Fuller House" star was arrested and charged with DUI in 2015 after the heartbreaking loss of his mother in 2014, Stamos was ready for a change.

"Well, I lost my mother last year, and she was the love of my life, obviously a difficult time for me," he explained to Matt Lauer on The Today Show of one of the catalysts for his self-destructive behavior.

"I think over the last six months I had to go back to my early sense of discipline, regimen.... Life can knock you off your trajectory or your proper path, and I think that started to happen with life things - career and death and divorce and just stuff. So my main goal lately is to get back to good health," said Stamos to The Los Angeles Times.

"You get a wake-up call. Life is too precious and it's time to get back to what got me here in the first place: being a good person and taking care of myself, taking care of others and being healthy enough to love," the actor remarked to the publication.

Stamos is welcoming all the blessings he has received in the past several months; the success of his Fox series "Grandfathered" and the warm response he has received regarding the reboot "Fuller House," his new Netflix series.

He also won a 2016 People's Choice Award Favorite Actor in a New TV Series for his work on "Grandfathered."

Stamos credits his new attitude in life for his recent good fortune and career resurgence. He finds that keeping a daily focus on what is working in his life instead of what is not has helped him tremendously.

[When I started playing drums with] the Beach Boys in the '80s, Mike Love introduced me to Transcendental Meditation. I kept that as part of my grounding process. Last year I got back into daily meditation. It has helped me a lot," Stamos revealed to The Los Angeles Times.

"It centers me and gives me a certain clarity. There's something spiritual about it. To sit for 20 minutes a day and not be on my computer, phone or texting is empowering.... It clears my mind to let good things in," the actor concluded.

Stamos finds that as he has gotten older, he finds more joy in making others happy before himself, and wishes he would have come to this realization earlier in his personal journey.

"I like to make people happy. I know this sounds corny [but] later in life I get more enjoyment out of doing something for other people or seeing someone have a good time or laugh," Stamos detailed.

"Grandfathered" airs on Fox.

"Fuller House" will debut in February on Netflix.
