"The Girl on the Train" has added some more star power to its cast by hiring Laura Prepon to play the pivotal role of Cathy, according to Deadline.
The character of Cathy is the landlord, roommate and college friend of the lead character of Rachel Wilson, played by Emily Blunt.
Prepon is best known for her roles on Netflix' "Orange is the New Black" and "That '70s Show."
The actress won a Satellite Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Series, Miniseries or Motion Picture Made for Television in 2013 for her work on "OITNB."
The honor was bestowed on her by the International Press Academy.
Rachel is an alcoholic who daydreams about the perfect lives of a couple she sees from the train during her daily commute.
She names them Scott and Megan.
When Rachel hears that Megan has gone missing, she becomes part of a fatal mystery in trying to find out what happened.
Cathy knows of Rachel's secret, but threatens to evict her for her excessive drinking.
Since its publication in January, "The Girl on the Train" has been reported to be the fastest selling adult novel in history.
Over seven million copies sold around the world, "Girl on the Train" is an international best seller and landed in the top spot on the New York Times Best Seller list its first week.
DreamWorks acquired the rights to Paula Hawkins' debut thriller in 2014, prior to the novel's publication.
Based on Paula Hawkins' debut novel, the film stars Emily Blunt ("Sicario"), Rebecca Ferguson ("Mission: Impossible, Rogue Nation"), Haley Bennett ("The Equalizer"), Justin Theroux ("The Leftovers"), Luke Evans ("Furious 7"), Emmy winner Allison Janney ("Mom"), Edgar Ramirez ("Zero Dark Thirty"), Lisa Kudrow ("The Comeback") and Merritt Wever ("Nurse Jackie").
"The Girl on the Train" is scheduled for release in theaters on October 7, 2016.
