"Ascendant," the final installment of the "Divergent" movie franchise, may have found its director.
Lee Toland Krieger - whose credits include "Age of Adaline," "The Vicious Kind" and "Celeste and Jesse Forever" - is in talks to helm the upcoming movie starring Shailene Woodley and Theo James, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Should a deal get sealed, Krieger will take over for Robert Schwenke, who recently departed the project. Schwenke, who helmed "Insurgent" and "Allegiant," announced that he was exiting the franchise because he wanted to take some time off after shooting two films back to back.
Schwenke also said that he wanted to spend more time with his family in Los Angeles instead of shooting in Atlanta.

"Ascendant" will follow the events of "Allegiant," which will be released on March 18.
The movie will feature Shailene Woodley as Beatrice "Tris" Prior and Theo James as Tobias "Four" Eaton. The film will also include Miles Teller as Peter, Ansel Elgort as Caleb, Naomi Watts as Evelyn, and Zoe Kravitz as Christina, among many others.
There have been a lot of talks about whether the movie's title will affect its ending. The film's title was changed from "Allegiant - Part 2" to "Ascendant," which prompted many fans to think that there might be some changes in the film.
Series creator Veronica Roth has opened up about the change in a blog post, saying: "What does this mean? Well, basically, it means there are going to be some changes. But it's really too early to know exactly what those changes will be or the extent of them."
The author added: "I know changes always makes fans of the books — and the author! — nervous, but hopefully the characters we know (and love. Or sometimes love to hate?) will still be intact, which is really the important thing. I am eager to see how these movies turn out, along with you guys."
"Ascendant" is set to hit theaters June 9, 2017.
