"Broad City" co-creator Abbi Jacobson will publish an illustrated book.
In the very first season of "Broad City," we learned that Jacobson's character, Abbi, had artist dreams. In the fourth episode of that season, "The Lockout" Abbi finally scores an art show at a "gallery," which turns out to be just some pictures hung on the wall of a sandwich shop.
Since that episode, Abbi's illustrations have popped up throughout the series. Including her side business of selling posters of celebrities' favorite foods.
The real Jacobson is also an illustrator. In 2013, she published two adult coloring books titled "Color This Book: New York City" and "Color This Book: San Francisco."
According to Entertainment Weekly, Jacobson's new book will be called "Carry This Book." It will feature things real and fictional characters carry around in their bags.
For example, "How many self-tanning lotions are in Donald Trump's weekender?" Jacobson's publisher told EW.
It seems it will mirror the celebrity food posters bit on "Broad City."
Jacobson and Glazer are millennial household names at this point. "Broad City" has already been renewed for a fourth and fifth season.
Now, fans will come to recognize Jacobson for other work too. Before "Broad City," Jacobson had a web series that showcased both her comedic brilliance as well as her artistic abilities. The series was titled "Annie and a Side of Fries."
Jacobson played an 11-year-old girl of divorced parents named Annie. "Annie and a Side of Fries," was her video blogging from her father's condominium in Chesterbrook — a community built for divorced dads. The whole series broadcasted out of Annie's bedroom, which was created entirely by Jacobson.
It is going to be great to see Jacobson's blend of artistry and comedy outside of "Broad City" once again.
"Carry This Book" will be available Oct. 11, but you can pre-order it now.
