"Lip Sync Battle's" LL Cool J was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame honoring the Spike TV host's pioneering recording career.
LL Cool J received the 2,571st star on legendary walk, which showcases some of the most prolific personalities in music, movies and television.
The rap legend's career spans over 30 years. He is the first rap artist to score consecutive platinum selling albums in the genre.
The rapper was honored by music contemporaries Queen Latifah and Sean "Diddy" Combs during the ceremony, according to The Daily News.
LL Cool J was born James Todd Smith in Bay Shore, New York, on Long Island and raised in Hollis, Queens.
His moniker stands for "Ladies Love Cool James."
The rapper began his career in 1984 with Def Jam Records and during that time, tied for third for the most Billboard chart debuts by a singer in the rap genre.
LL Cool J won two Grammy Awards for Best Rap Solo Performance in 1991 for "Mama Said Knock You Out" and 1996 for "Hey Lover."
The Grammy winner is also a successful actor, best known for his role as NCIS Special Agent Sam Hanna on the CBS crime drama "NCIS: Los Angeles."
LL Cool J has also hosted the Grammy awards five times.
Currently, LL Cool J hosts Spike TV's monster hit "Lip Sync Battle."
Spike TV's "Lip Sync Battle" pits celebrities against one another to battle it out for lip synch supremacy.
Hosted by LL Cool J and Chrissy Teigen, "Lip Sync Battle" was recently renewed for a third season.
The 20 half-hour episodes will be taped later this year, Kevin Kay, the cable television network's president, said in a statement to Deadline.
Deadline also reported that the series also has amassed over half a billion video streams since its launch last April, with over 50 million alone for the Season 2 premiere featuring Channing Tatum vs. Jenna Dewan-Tatum.
The premiere date for Season 3 will be announced in the near future.
