"Dancing with the Stars" season 22 competitor Nyle DiMarco calls his experience as a dancer on the long-running ABC reality competition, "Not what I expected."
"It's not what I expected but actually, my dancing feet are pretty good," DiMarco revealed to Entertainment Tonight.
"I'm pretty surprised and pretty impressed because I've never danced before. I also have a great teacher!" the model said through his interpreter.
DiMarco is working alongside pro-Peta Murgatroyd, who is returning to "Dancing with the Stars" after taking a season off to heal from a foot injury.
"It's not exactly what I expected," the 26-year-old model added to the entertainment news show. "I thought that I would struggle a lot and it would be frustrating, but actually, it's going really well."
Despite some initial worries, Murgatroyd revealed that working with DiMarco is going extraordinarily well.
"I've never trained with a deaf person before, so it's a whole new ball game for me," she explained of her misgivings at first.
"Being a teacher, I have to really find out different teaching methods to be able to overcome this, and so far we're going really well," she shared of the couple's progress in the ballroom.
The twosome will be performing a Cha-Cha for their first dance.
DiMarco remarked that he clicked with Murgatroyd right away.
"The first day that we met, right before she came in, of course, I've never danced ever. So that's what I was nervous about," DiMarco explained to Entertainment Tonight.
"I didn't want to look bad on the first day of rehearsals. Now I'm not nervous at all. All thanks to her," he remarked.
Murgatroyd seemed genuinely surprised that DiMarco picked up on the moves right away.
"He's doing amazingly well. Part [of that] is just his amazing work ethic," Murgatroyd explained of her partner.
"He literally doesn't sit down. Usually, people will sit down every five minutes, but he works constantly throughout the four hours that we have," she said of his work ethic.
One aspect of her partner that Murgatroyd is astounded by is DiMarco's sense of visuals.
"He's just so visually aware," the pro added in her interview. "Probably doubly as visually aware as anyone else because he doesn't have hearing."
"Dancing with the Stars" season 22 airs Monday, March 21 at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
