Harry Styles continues to make forward strides in his solo career outside of One Direction by signing on to star in a film by Christopher Nolan titled "Dunkirk."
As reported by the Los Angeles Times, Styles will make both his acting and film debut in the World War II action-thriller from producer Nolan.
The film will center on the British military evacuation of the French city of Dunkirk in 1940, according to The Los Angeles Times.
The cast will also include Tom Hardy, Kenneth Branagh and Oscar-winner Mark Rylance.
Filming will commence in May, according to the Times.
Many of the scenes will be shot at the same locations where the events surrounding the evacuation took place.
Christopher Nolan will reportedly produce the film with his producing partner and wife, Emma Thomas.
Styles has been taking small steps away from the protective bubble of One Direction since the group went on a self-imposed hiatus in December of 2015.
The break is expected to last at least one year for Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan.
In November, Styles and the rest of One Direction released "Made in the A.M."
"Made in the A.M." was the band's first release since one of its founding members, Zayn Malik, left the band abruptly in March of 2015.
Billboard reported that according to a statement from Modest Management, Styles was no longer being represented by their company.
Modest Management was the company that had represented all five members of One Direction from the very beginning of their days as a boy band.
"We wish Harry the very best. It has been a real pleasure working with him...Harry is a total gentleman, and we know our good friend Jeffrey Azoff will look after him. We look forward to sharing some great wine with them next time we are in L.A.," the statement from Richard Griffiths and Harry Magee revealed.
A source close to the band told Billboard that "nothing has changed regarding the hiatus plans for the group, and all will be revealed in due time from the band members' own mouths."
The Sun reported that a senior music insider revealed: "Harry is done with One Direction. He wants to completely disassociate with the band and that includes any professional connection.
"His new team will be about launching him as a solo superstar by around this time next year so the work is starting now."
A source also revealed to The Sun that, "The message from Harry to the other boys is pretty clear that he doesn't see 1D together for a long time if at all."
One Direction remains on hiatus until 2017.
"Dunkirk" will arrive on July 21, 2017.
