Each season, "Once Upon A Time" introduces well-loved fairy tale characters and mythological figures to liven up the show.
The second half of season 5 will not only bring to life Hades (Greg Germann), Hercules (Jonathan Whitesell) and Megara (Kacey Rohl), but also two feuding brothers, possibly Mufasa and Scar from "The Lion King."
The ABC series was searching for new cast members to play the recurring roles of the two brothers, who might spill over to the sixth season, according to TV Line.
One was described as "physically imposing, brutish, morally corrupt and willing to destroy his family in the pursuit of power," while the other brother is "weaker and desperate to escape his older bro's sinister shadow."
Another character who will be introduced in season 5 is Emma Swan's (Jennifer Morrison) mentor Cleo.
The character will be played by "Heroes Reborn" star Rya Kihlstedt and will appear in episode 20, which is titled "Firebird."
Cleo is described as "a bail bondsperson and no-nonsense woman who has pulled herself out of a rough early life and trusts her instincts above all else."
Just like Emma, she also has "a tough exterior" that "hides a strong nurturing side that isn't often given a chance to come out."
The show's co-creator Edward Kitsis teased that the fifth season will let viewers explore Emma's rocky past, and Cleo will help do just that.
"We are going to get a period in time in Emma's life we've never explored before, which is before she became a bail bondsperson," he said. "And it's about time!"
Meanwhile, several old characters who were presumed to be dead will be introduced in season 5, such as Cora (Barbara Hershey), Peter Pan (Robbie Kay), Sidney Glass (Giancarlo Esposito) and the Blind Witch (Emma Caulfield).
"Once Upon A Time" will return to ABC on March 6.
