There were a lot of ups and downs on the last season of “The Bachelorette” with Kaitlyn Bristowe, who eliminated Ben Higgins during the sixth week of the season. Now that Bristowe finally picked her fiancé, Higgins gets to be the new bachelor in Season 20.
The first episode of “The Bachelor” finally aired on Jan. 4 and viewers were introduced to all of the contestants fighting to win Higgins’ heart.
Fans have been tuning in every week to watch Higgins get to know the women in the house, but now he has narrowed it down to only two women.
One the last episode of “The Bachelor,” Caila got eliminated, leaving Lauren B. and Jojo left as the final two women. While fans are left guessing who Higgins is going to pick, or if he will pick either of them, he does reveal that he is, in fact, engaged.
During an appearance on Tuesday on “Good Morning America,” Higgins confirmed the happy news, according to People magazine.
“I am engaged - I can say that?” said Higgins with a laugh. “I haven’t said that in a interview yet!”
“You don’t know how much stress and weight that is, to carry for so long,” continued Higgins. “‘Good morning America, I am engaged! Yes, finally!”
In the mean time, we won’t find out which woman he gets down on one knee for until the season finale on March 14.
In the last episode, Higgins was able to open up to Jojo and Lauren, telling them both that he loves them.
Jojo and Laurent B. weren’t the only ones to tell Higgins just how strongly they felt about him during this season. “The Bachelor” creator Mike Fleiss told E! News that “a record number” of women said the L-word to him.
“What happened on this season is he’s such a catch that the girls competed harder for him than any other season,” said Fleiss. “I think eight or nine girls said they were in love with him...a lot of girls want to marry this guy.”
