Fashion week street style has been rife with jeans this season. And, as we enter spring (aka prime denim weather), we couldn't be more thrilled. We love an exaggerated flare, a pair of cropped skinnys, and the perfect vintage straight-leg style, but it's the next-level denim that has been coming out in droves. You heard it here first: Remember those Vetements jeans we spotted at the beginning of the month? They are, quite possibly, the most coveted item of the season thus far. And there's more where those came from.
The best part about the below styles is that, while you're welcome to mix them with statement tops or bold sweaters, they hold their own quite well when paired with a simple T-shirt or blouse. These jeans are statements all on their own, and we're currently lusting after every single pair.
Raw Hem:
Simple as this denim style may be, the unraveled, raw hem truly takes it to the next level. This one looks best in an ankle crop, but comes in all shapes and sizes—from skinny to wide leg and everything in between. You can even DIY your own by cutting off the hem of your jeans with a pair of scissors!
Fringe:
Take your raw hem one step further and go for a fringe style. Look for these jeans in a shorter length, so the end of the fringe hits you at the ankle. Not sure how to hem them? We've got a tutorial, here.
Two Jeans in One:
Popularized by French design house, Vetements, this look is literally two pairs sewn together. With front and back seams, an uneven hem, and head-turning butt details (see it here!), these jeans are very cool. The Vetements piece is a major investment—so splurge, or look for a similar pair.
Patchwork:
If you're looking for a trend that is head-turning, but one that also boasts a classic shape you already know works for you, go for patchwork. Much like the raw-hem style, it's sometimes the simplest details that make the boldest statements.
Colorful Trim:
Add a little flair to your denim with a colorful trim. Whether you go for a simple ribbon or piping, or opt for a fringe or pom-pom style, this denim is the perfect pairing for your classic white T-shirt this spring.
