There has not been a lot of news regarding the upcoming season of the Amazon hit "Transparent," but now there is talk that Caitlyn Jenner will make an appearance.
On Sunday night, Jeffrey Tambor attended the Elton John Oscar party. Extra's Terri Seymour caught Tambor on the red carpet and asked if he'd had a chance to catch up with Jenner yet.
"There's something going around," Tambor told Seymour. " We may be seeing her."
Tambor, it seems, was referring to seeing Jenner on "Transparent."
"Starring role [or] just a one off?" Seymour followed up.
Tambour only said, "We'll see." He then admitted to panicking because he wasn't sure he was allowed to say anything about Jenner appearing on the show.
"Well I don't know if it is official," Tambor said.
It might not be official, but it is pretty apparent that a role for Jenner on "Transparent" is in the works.
"Transparent" follows Mort Pfefferman as he transitions into Maura Pfefferman, and how it affects those closest to him. The Amazon series has gained a lot of praise for its depiction of transgender people. Of how it has handled the emotions, obligations and day-to-day life of transitioning.
Jenner has done the same sort of thing in the real world. She has been brave in her role as a transgender public figure. Therefore, it is not all that surprising that the series would choose to include Jenner.
So far, there is only Tambor's brief statement to go on. There has not been any other news regarding Jenner's role on the show. Like Seymour said, she could have a recurring role or she could be a one-off.
An official release date for "Transparent" season 3 has not been set. Season 2 premiered in December 2015, so it is expected that the new season will premiere sometime in winter 2016.
