New spoilers for "Reign" season three revealed that Mary, Queen of Scots is going to have to find a new husband while trying to re-establish her power in her homeland.
"Reign" star Adelaide Kane recently sat down to discuss the second half of the third season with TVLine.
She hinted that there is a good chance Mary is going to be forced to find a new husband.
Britannica added that the real Mary Stuart married her cousin Henry Stewart, Lord Darnley in 1565 and it is possible "Reign" will introduce this character at the end of the third season.
"It's a whole new chapter," Kane said. "There will be new friends and enemies. We're gearing up for some really big storylines in the fourth season. Mary's life didn't even really start until she got to Scotland; that's when things really kicked off for her. Mary is also going to have to make the difficult decision of who to marry next."
Kane added that Mary is also going to struggle with how to establish herself as queen in a country she has not seen since she was a little girl.
"Mary's main focus is just getting back to Scotland and trying to re-establish her power in her homeland," she explained. "She's attempting to take over as queen in a country she hasn't been to since she was six years old. She's really finding her footing back in Scotland."
Aside from Mary's struggle to take control of Scotland, the synopsis for episode 13 hinted that the young queen is going to be forced to protect her cousin Elizabeth.
Carter Matt reported that "Strange Bedfellows" will revolve around Mary trying to protect her cousin, only to find out that her efforts put Gideon's life in danger and she will have to work with Robert Dudley in order to save her friend.
Meanwhile, Bash is determined to track down and stop the men who threatened Queen Catherine de Medici.
"Reign" season three is currently airing on Monday nights at 8 p.m. ET on the CW.
